How it works

Create a JPG from the first frame of a GIF. Animation is not copied into the still image.

  1. Choose a GIF.
  2. The first frame is decoded locally.
  3. Preview and download the JPG.

GIF and JPG

GIF can contain animation, while JPG stores one still image. ImageNexo converts only the first GIF frame.

JPG is a widely compatible, lossy format suited to photographs. It does not support transparency.

What happens during conversion

The browser decodes the source and creates a new JPG file locally. The original file is never changed.

The quality control affects detail and file size. If the source contains transparency and the output is JPG, transparent areas use the background selected in the tool.

Private by design

Your files stay on your device. Processing starts only when you choose an image, and nothing is stored on our servers.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. Processing happens locally in your browser, so your image files never leave your device.

Does this convert the full GIF animation?

No. JPG is a still-image format, so this tool clearly converts only the first GIF frame.
