Fit, Fill, quality and transparency
Fit preserves the complete image. When padding is needed, it is transparent for PNG and WebP and white for JPG.
Fill covers the entire target ratio with a centered crop, so source pixels near the edges can be removed.
The result keeps the input format. JPG and WebP use the configured export quality; PNG retains an alpha channel when present.

Fit uses transparent padding for PNG and WebP. JPG cannot store transparency, so its padding is white.
Does the result keep the original format?
Yes. JPG stays JPG, PNG stays PNG and WebP stays WebP.
