HEIC is common in photos from Apple devices and stores images efficiently, but some apps and workflows still prefer JPG or PNG.

What happens during conversion
The browser decodes the source and creates a new WebP file locally. The original file is never changed.
The quality control affects detail and file size. If the source contains transparency and the output is JPG, transparent areas use the background selected in the tool.
